El Plan de Acción Internacional de Madrid sobre el Envejecimiento, 2002 y los textos regionales sobre el envejecimiento: estudio comparado

Abstract

El presente trabajo tiene por objeto definir el marco internacional para el estudio de las redes de apoyo a las personas de edad en América Latina. Se examina el contenido del Plan de Acción de Madrid respecto de estas redes y la forma en que se ha reflejado en las estrategias regionales sobre el envejecimiento. Las cuestiones examinadas son las siguientes: la vivienda y el entorno en que se vive, con especial énfasis en que las personas de edad conserven su independencia; los cuidados informales y el apoyo a las personas que prestan asistencia, reconociendo la necesidad de fortalecer y complementar los sistemas locales y nacionales de prestación de asistencia; el abandono, los malos tratos, la violencia y las imágenes del envejecimiento.
