Redes de apoyo y calidad de vida de personas mayores en Chile

Abstract

En Chile, si bien cada vez son más las personas que llegan a edades avanzadas, los hechos demuestran que una parte significativa tiene dificultades y no cuenta con protección social, en cuyos casos, las redes familiares y comunitarias constituyen la estructura de apoyo principal. En este artículo presentamos los resultados de una investigación sobre las redes de apoyo social para personas mayores en Chile, en la cual se utilizó como principal fuente de datos la Encuesta sobre Salud, Bienestar y Envejecimiento (SABE) y datos de la Encuesta de Caracterización Socioeconómica Nacional (CASEN) 2000.
