Proyección multirregional: aplicación en Brasil y sus unidades federativas, 2000-2020

Abstract

El propósito de este trabajo es mostrar en detalle la aplicación del método de proyección multirregional, para lo cual se proyecta, simultáneamente, la población por edad y sexo de las unidades federativas de Brasil para el período 2000-2020. Este método es una extensión del modelo clásico de proyección unirregional (o de componentes), pero su ventaja radica en que considera las subpoblaciones como un sistema en interacción. Además de escenarios sobre el comportamiento de la fecundidad y la mortalidad, requiere como insumo las tendencias de las tasas de emigración de cada unidad hacia las demás, lo que implica un conocimiento demográfico y socioeconómico bastante profundo sobre el comportamiento migratorio según niveles y patrones, por sexo y edad. El análisis de los resultados, basado en indicadores demográficos tales como tasas de crecimiento por edad y razones de sexo y relaciones de sobrevivencia entre las subpoblaciones proyectadas, así como la comparación con fuentes externas, aseguran la coherencia de los resultados obtenidos.
