Abstract

Presenta la aplicacion del metodo de orfandad a datos de seis parroquias del Valle Central de Costa Rica a finales del siglo XIX. Procede, primero, a una breve caracterizacion sociodemografica de la region; luego explica los procedimientos de obtencion y procesamiento de la informacion basica; por ultimo, presenta un conjunto de estimaciones de la mortalidad adulta.
