Análisis de la informalidad laboral en Chile: medición, características y principales factores determinantes

Abstract

Este artículo examina la informalidad laboral en Chile a través del análisis de su medición y evolución, y sus factores determinantes. Se revisan las teorías y los métodos utilizados para medir la informalidad, y se realiza un análisis cuantitativo con datos procedentes de la Encuesta Nacional de Empleo (ENE) del Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas (INE) de Chile. El estudio incluye una fase descriptiva sobre la evolución de la informalidad y una fase inferencial con modelos de regresión logit y probit. Los resultados indican que la probabilidad de ocupación informal aumenta cuando la persona es mujer, tiene menor nivel educativo y trabaja en pequeñas empresas y en sectores de baja productividad. Estos efectos han sido consistentes a lo largo del tiempo, lo que pone de relieve la importancia de contar con políticas que consideren tanto las características individuales como las del entorno productivo para abordar la informalidad laboral en Chile.
