La industria manufacturera en México: una historia de producción sin distribución

Abstract

Este trabajo analiza el desempeño histórico de la industria manufacturera mexicana a partir de las estrategias que comienzan a adoptarse en la década de 1960. En particular, se estudia la relación entre los incrementos productivos impulsados por la apertura del mercado y los niveles de bienestar económico observados en la sociedad vinculada a este sector. Los resultados de un análisis secuencial de su evolución histórica y de la estimación de funciones de producción y mecanismos de distribución sugieren que el éxito productivo de la industria solo ha favorecido el aumento del bienestar económico de las empresas y sus dueños, pero no el de sus trabajadores o de la sociedad.
