Cambios y desigualdad en las familias latinoamericanas

Abstract

La familia —institución crucial en la vida de las personas— tiende a examinarse como si estuviera estática e inmodificada en el tiempo. Este texto quiere contribuir a esclarecer los cambios que la han afectado en un contexto socioeconómico y cultural mayor,develando los procesos de modernización y de modernidad y sus efectos en las familias.Para reflexionar sobre estas relaciones se ofrece un diagnóstico de las familias de la región:se describen los cambios ocurridos,la diversidad de familias en distintos estratos sociales y su estructura heterogénea por tipo y etapa del ciclo de vida familiar. Junto con mostrar la creciente desigualdad de las familias,se señalan los cambios culturales de diverso signo a los que han estado sometidas,las transformaciones demográficas, el crecimiento de los hogares con jefatura femenina y el aumento de la participación de las mujeres en el mercado laboral y en los ámbitos
