External debt in Central America

Abstract

Analiza la evolucion del endeudamiento externo en Centroamerica y senala que los procesos de renegociacion no han considerado las posibilidades reales de cada pais para servir su deuda, de modo que los plazos de amortizacion convenidos han resultado demasiado cortos y los costos demasiado elevados, y que ha de determinarse cuidadosamente el destino de los recursos de inversion de que se disponga, tanto internos como externos, teniendo presente que los recursos externos han de ser un complemento y no un sustituto de los esfuerzos internos de desarrollo.
