Anthropometric Approaches In Classical Kemence

For the most part of the studies on classical kemençe in Turkish music instruments, subjects such as organological characteristics, training and performers of the instrument were handled and studies on the construction were performed. Although the traditional dimensions and construction techniques are described superficially with limited number of studies, there is no research about instruments sized for using in early music education. The instruments used in European music, such as the violin family and guitar, are small-sized instruments made for the training of children performers. In order to continue the Turkish music education successfully, instrument education must be started at an early age. In this way, the duration of training will be significantly extended. In this study, classical kemençe, 3/4 and 1/2 dimensions, dere designed,and the first step in the manufacturing process of the instruments required to be started at an early age were realized. Measurements for classical kemençe were provided as a table. In addition, the production stages of the instrument were explained and the stages were arranged as work order. Trees, which are the main material used in the construction of the instrument, were examined and the tools to be used were given in detail. As a result, with this study the classical kemence, which cannot be used in early music education because of its size, will make classical kemençe education possible in Turkish Music for 7-10 years with 1/2 kemençe and 10-14 age with 3/4 kemençe.
