Crecimiento económico, I+D+i. El Milagro Irlandés

Abstract

Este artículo describe la importante contribución que la inversión en capital humano tiene en el crecimiento y desarrollo económico, ejemplificándolo en el caso irlandés. La sabia y constante inversión que Irlanda ha realizado en el sector educativo desde hace 30 o 40 años ha posibilitado, entre otros factores, el crecimiento sostenido y generalizado que la economía irlandesa viene experimentando desde hace ya más de una década. El presente trabajo trata de analizar las claves de tal crecimiento económico, las instituciones que han encauzado el mismo así como los instrumentos por los cuales se ha implementado la correspondiente política económica. Aspectos como el papel que puede jugar el Estado en el crecimiento económico, porqué unos países crecen más que otros, la importancia de los shocks tecnológicos en la Economía y el grado de apertura de la misma, el papel de la productividad o la convergencia entre regiones europeas son los que subyacen en las líneas que siguen.
