Abstract

The aim of this paper is to, based on relevant theoretical findings, analyze the impact of foreign direct investment (FDI) on economic growth and development, as well as export growth of the Republic of Serbia. The paper first presents FDI flows on a global scale. It then analyzes the ratio of real GDP growth rate to net FDI, as well as the sectoral structure of FDI. The next part of the paper points to the necessity of assessing real long-term effects of FDI on the economy of the Republic of Serbia. The final part of the paper points to the importance of FDI to increase export, as a driver and holder of economic growth and development of the Republic of Serbia.
