Abstract

We analyze how organizational actors coordinate when they have to decide in a context of interdependence. We exceed the opposition between standardization and mutual adjustment and we search to understand how the articulation between coordination mechanisms influences the bank decisions making. Our qualitative methodology is based on the analysis of 56 interviews conducted in the lending process of a bank. The paper offers a three steps model explaining the role of coordination in banking decision. It highlights the influence of factors such as the actor's capacity of support and its arbitrage function in the implementation of a coordination strategy. Classification-JEL:G21
