Abstract

(VA) Psychological coherence between a manager and a new management tool is essential to any appropriation process. As such, it is necessary to evaluate its degree of coherence in order to anticipate – or to correct, if applicable – the path of the tool in the organization. Since then, numerous studies focused on individuals’ representations for studying the concept of psychological coherence, thus favoring the study of controlled, conscious appraisal processes to further understanding of management tool appropriation process. However, automatic, unconscious processes such as primary emotions, which represent a major antecedent of self-report representations and subsequent behaviors. In this conceptual paper, we aim to revisit the mechanisms of management tool appropriation considering the central role of primary emotions.
