Abstract

(VA) Business models (BM) can be considered as narratives used by entrepreneurs to bring their project to life. Within an innovation context, narratives may challenge the traditional BM of an industry. Drawing on a longitudinal case study, we analyzed the change in BM narratives processed by a start-up while facing incumbents’ reactions. We provide insights on the role of narratives to disclose competitive tensions; to influence the course of BM competition; and to enhance the experiential learning of entrepreneurs.
