Abstract

This research aims to assess the impact of the firms’ attachment to their local territory on their accounting performance. On the basis of literature, it builds the concept of a firm’s sensitivity to the Local Economic Fabric (LEF). Then, an empirical study checks one hypothesis on a sample of 248 European firms involving a concave relation (positive and then negative) between the firms’ sensitivity to the LEF and their accounting performance. Results show a convex relation (negative and then positive). Thus, firms have to be sensitive above a minimum level to improve their accounting performance.
