Religious and Legal Aspects of Governing by Dagestan Province of the Russian Empire

Abstract

The aim is considening the religious and legal aspects of the Imperial experience of governing by Dagestan province (1860-1921), analyzing theissues of adaptation of the traditional legal culture of Dagestan peoples to innovations related to the establishment of the military and peope’s administration, consdering the features of the Adat, Sharah correlation with the Russian law in the jurisprudence.Methods: the method of historicism, comparative and analytic methods, the thick description methods.Results. During the whole period of Dagestan province being all three legal systems operated here successfully. None of them could displace the other.Conclusion. Dagestan Province, with all its integration into the all-Russian political and legal systems, continued to preserve traditional juridical practice until the first quarter of the 20th century.
