Distance Learning, a Case Study in Higher Education in Timisoara, Romania

Abstract

Education and training are essential factors in developing the world’s long-term potential for competitiveness and social cohesion. Now days COVID-19 is a major public health emergency for our citizens, societies and economies, with infections and deaths registered in the whole world. It is also a major economic shock for the whole world. The distance learning has become mandatory, it is no longer a choise. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of distance learning in the higher education system, based on a survey conducted with the support of students of Economic Informatics major. The students have experimented two kind of learning, a face to face learning, in first semester, and then the distance learning in second semester. Their opinion about the two learning alternatives, with better or worse, were summarized in this paper.
