Mental health in times of covid-19: an analysis of Colombia before and during the pandemic

Abstract

This work is framed within the study of mental health in Colombia, in which concepts related to its impact on human health are addressed, based on the perspectives of entities such as the World Health Organization (WHO), and taking into account national statistics and related regulations. The main objective of the study is to conduct a bibliographic review of research and official data related to mental health in Colombia based on two scenarios: before and during the Covid-19 pandemic. In order to fulfill the projected, the reflexive methodology was implemented, of descriptive type, making use of information sources such as: journalistic documents, research articles, Internet, essays among others. As conclusions, it could be argued that mental health is linked to various economic, social and labor problems in the country, and the Covid-19 pandemic was an important aggravating factor to increase the figures related to it.
