The growing problem of overweight and obesity in childhood: Systematic review of literature

Abstract

Introduction: obesity affects millions of people worldwide and is categorized as a public health problem due to the alarming proportions it has reached. Detecting the obesity problem as soon as possible can determine the future of an adult. Method: a systematic review of the literature was carried out, including articles, original documents and publications. Searches were conducted in Google Scholar and Intramed. Results: 40 articles by 32 authors were analyzed. Conclusion: the systematic review provides compiled information on obesity and overweight in different areas and regions, considering diversity and the different factors directly related to prevalence. Following up on this work provides information that can be fundamental for a better outcome.
