Abstract

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to analyze the characteristics of the La Cocha Tourist Complex for the implementation of tourist signage, considering legal and technical aspects that contribute to the tourism development of Cotaló parish, in Pelileo canton. The research focused on evaluating the feasibility of a signage plan, as the lack of information about the area's flora and fauna limits its tourism potential and causes dissatisfaction among visitors. The methodological approach was non-experimental and cross-sectional, using inventory sheets of tourist attractions, technical sheets for the placement of signage, and interviews with local authorities. The results revealed the natural richness of the environment, highlighting the need to improve signage to optimize the visitor experience and extend their stay. The interviewed authorities agreed on the importance of signage to adequately inform visitors about the complex's attractions. Finally, a technical analysis was conducted to determine the types of signs to implement, and conclusions were drawn, emphasizing the positive impact that signage would have on visitor satisfaction and the tourism development of the area
