Abstract

Industry 4.0 has ushered in a need to equip industries with intelligent, interconnected, and adaptive systems higher than ever. WSNs have been an important part of this revolution through the use of Internet of Things (IoT) which enables real-time measurement, machine-to- machine communication and intelligent automation within industrial processes². Nevertheless, they face the challenges of scalability, energy efficiency, latency, and cybersecurity, which need to be considered before the reliable deployment² blacksquon system identities in translation In this paper, the design and performance analysis of IoT enabled WSNs under industrial automation are presented. It analyses communication protocols, optimization techniques and energy efficient frameworks and further focuses on being interconnected with cloud and edge computing systems This paper synthesizes recent papers in order to outline the current state of the limitations, insights into the comparison of the performance, and possible direction of future research that can contribute to the industrial IoT systems in the context of Industry 4.0⁴ ⁵.
