Abstract
In Handwerksbetrieben finden solche Konzepte bislang wenig Anwendung. / The skilled crafts sector is an important part of the German economy. The digital transformation confronts many craft businesses with new opportunities and numerous challenges. One way to counter the complex effects of the digital transformation is business model innovation. In industrial companies and the startup scene, methods for business model innovation, such as Gassmann’s Business Model Navigator, are well established. In craft businesses, such concepts have so far found little application. This observation motivated the exploratory study presented here. The study aims at determining whether existing methods are suitable for skilled crafts and, if needed, how relevant adaptations should be made. The goal is to develop a target-group-oriented toolbox of methods for craft businesses.
