Abstract

Due to the close connection between the two systems, family and business, family businesses are particularly prone to conflicts. However, they are successful. The objective of this paper is to analyze how family businesses deal with conflicts constructively. The empirical basis consists of three case studies based on qualitative interviews and interpretative analysis. The comparative analysis of the case studies shows that conflict prevention plays an essential role. Therefore, rules in dealing with decisions, regulation of the relationship between family members and employees as well as the regulation of conflicts at the interface of family and business will help to prevent conflicts in advance.
