Abstract

Through cooperation, mid-sized pharmaceutical companies are attempting to compensate their resource and competence disadvantage in comparison to large companies, as well as to establish inter-firm cooperation as a central element of their business model. The present contribution examines potential success factors for cooperation. This is based on the case study of two successive collaborations between two mid-sized pharmaceutical companies. Despite almost identical starting conditions and framework, only one of the two was successful.
