Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of national cultural values on the founding intent and its drivers and obstacles. The study of 629 individuals in four countries shows that the cultural values of (1) Individualism and (2) Power Distance impact the founding intent and the specific antecedents. The results of this study improve the understanding of cultural roots of entrepreneurship. Internationalizing firms, particularly the born globals, can improve their successful recruitment of personnel in the home and host country. Further, Entrepreneurship Education can be improved by cultural sensitive programs and their content.
