Abstract

In empirischen Untersuchungen über die Effekte von Unternehmensgründungen auf die nationale oder regionale wirtschaftliche Entwicklung wird häufig mit öffentlichen Statistiken zu diesem Thema gearbeitet. In diesem Beitrag wird das Analysepotenzial der Statistik zur Unternehmensdemographie (UDEMO) des Bundesamtes für Statistik in der Schweiz vorgestellt. Anhand von drei Anwendungsbeispielen werden die räumliche, die strukturelle und die zeitliche Auflösung der darin enthaltenen Daten demonstriert. / Empirical studies that explore the effects of new firm foundations on national or regional economic development often base on reliable official statistics. In this contribution, the Swiss official statistics on new firm foundations, the demography of enterprises in Switzerland (UDEMO) is portrayed. The spatial, structural and temporal dimensions of the data provided by UDEMO are illustrated by three examples of use. These examples are discussed with respect to potential further scientific exploration of the database.
