Abstract

Academic research in general, but also especially applied research, have extensively grown their relevance in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. This poses an enlightening chance to point out the strengths of management research in this regard. Against this background, the article first of all discusses the contribution of management research as discipline of science. Second, this perspective is elaborated further on specific research questions arising in the light of the Covid-19 pandemic. Finally, it concludes with a plea pushing for more academic management expertise in solving societal questions and challenges.
