Abstract
The environmental well-being of individual countries, regions, and entities are topical issues for both individuals and businesses, as well as for government and administrative bodies. Projects and programs to improve the environmental situation and combat climate change cover all subjects of society and are adopted at different levels of the hierarchy. The growth in the number of such projects and the scale of their coverage of various aspects of society’s life makes the question of the effectiveness of their implementation increasingly relevant. Purpose: The aim of the study is to assess the effectiveness of regional environmental programs within the framework of the implementation of the national project "Ecology" and the achievement of key indicators of sustainable development on this basis. Materials and methods: Data on the implementation of key regional projects in the field of environmental development of leading regions for 2023 of the ESG rating of Russian subjects were used as the main materials for the study. The bibliographic method, statistical method, and contextual research method were used to conduct the analysis. Results: The study found that the instruments of public administration and targeted state financing of various programs within the framework of the national project "Ecology" are effective. It was concluded that it is necessary to continue and expand the implementation of regional programs within the framework of the national project "Ecology", as well as to increase state (federal and regional) support for regional environmental projects. Practical implications: The results of the study can be used by specialists of regional and federal authorities and management. Also, the results of the study can be used by employees of other organizations and institutions involved in the implementation of environmental projects at various levels.
