Abstract

Zimbabwe's mining industry plays a crucial role in the national economy, contributing significantly to GDP and employment. However, the sector faces challenges including environmental concerns, outdated operational practices, and safety issues that result in injuries and loss of lives. This systematic literature review examines how digital technologies can transform Zimbabwe’s mining sector in line with the Vision 2030 smart mining agenda. Literature was gathered from databases including JSTOR, Google Scholar, and ScienceDirect. The review identifies trends, benefits, and barriers to digital adoption. Findings indicate that the integration of technologies such as automation, data analytics, real-time monitoring systems, and communication technologies can significantly enhance operational efficiency, productivity, and safety within Zimbabwe’s mining sector.
