Healthy nutrition and multimodal narrative, vocabulary in chilean sign language about snacks for schoolchildren with deaf diversity

This study proposes the development of a multimodal narrative in Chilean Sign Language on healthy snacks, aimed at schoolchildren with deaf diversity. The promotion of nutritional education for the acquisition of eating habits in the school context requires inclusive educational material that considers diversity. In this case, we bet on multimodal narratives that provide accessible information on healthy snacks in sign language.The approach of the study is qualitative and descriptive, using in-depth interviews and content analysis with teachers of the institution. This analysis allows, through visual data, the design of educational material with clear and accessible vocabulary and instructions, facilitating the preparation of healthy snacks.The results reflect that teachers' perceptions points to positive changes in attitudes towards healthy snacks. An increase in the consumption of nutritious foods is anticipated after the implementation of multimodal narratives as a learning tool in nutrition education.In conclusion, the need to develop accessible materials that ensure inclusive nutrition education for all students, regardless of their linguistic diversity, is highlighted.
