Abstract

La enteroparasitosis continúa representando un problema sanitario relevante en poblaciones infantiles rurales, debido a su estrecha relación con condiciones ambientales y sociales desfavorables. Objetivo: Analizar la relación entre los factores de riesgo sociodemográficos, higiénico-ambientales y la prevalencia de enteroparasitosis en niños preescolares y escolares de la parroquia rural Convento, cantón Chone. Materiales y métodos: Se realizó un estudio cuantitativo, observacional, transversal y descriptivo en una muestra de 203 niños de 3 a 11 años, seleccionados mediante muestreo aleatorio simple. El diagnóstico coproparasitario se efectuó mediante examen directo en fresco y técnica de concentración de Ritchie modificada, complementado con una encuesta sociodemográfica aplicada a los representantes legales. Resultados: La prevalencia global de enteroparasitosis fue del 27,1 %, identificándose únicamente infecciones monoespecíficas, con predominio de protozoarios intestinales como Entamoeba coli y Giardia intestinalis. Se observaron mayores prevalencias en niños de 6 a 8 años, en viviendas de caña o mixtas y en hogares con acceso a agua no tratada y saneamiento básico limitado. Conclusiones: La enteroparasitosis se asoció principalmente a factores estructurales e higiénico-ambientales, lo que evidencia la necesidad de fortalecer estrategias de saneamiento, acceso a agua segura y educación sanitaria en la población infantil rural.
