Abstract

Las amputaciones derivadas de la diabetes generan costos significativos en Nicaragua, donde las enfermedades crónicas tienen un aumento en los últimos 5 años. Estimar los costos directos y los determinantes asociados a las amputaciones en pacientes diabéticos de un hospital, en el año 2024. Estudio transversal, realizado con 104 pacientes diabéticos con amputaciones digitales, infracondíleas y supracondíleas, en el servicio de ortopedia. Predominaron hombres mayores de 50 años procedentes del área urbana, con más de 10 años de evolución de la diabetes y poco control metabólico. La mayoría de las amputaciones fueron digitales y el costo promedio fue alrededor de 2500 USD por paciente. Las amputaciones en pacientes diabéticos representan una carga financiera relevante para el hospital y requieren estrategias para la prevención y atención temprana del pie diabético
