Abstract

Mental health is currently considered a topic of little importance in the medical profession, because they are the first line of care to the population and often tend to minimize the impact of work overload on them, that is why the lack of support from employers, the environment in which they are subjected and the exhausting working hours often cause alterations in their mood, for this reason the objective is to know what are the main consequences of work overload on the mental health of physicians. A literature review article was carried out where the PRISMA method was applied to 53 articles, leaving 22 for the final selection from internationally renowned journals published between 2019-2024. The main evaluation method was the MBI in 57%, the most affected sex was female and 42% presented burnout syndrome as the main complication. In conclusion, it is of utmost importance to take into account the mental health of physicians in order to find a balance with family and recreational activities to avoid frustration in their personal lives, and therefore reflect on their work.
