Abstract

Context: this research addresses the fundamental role of public ethics in preventing corruption within the public administration of Latin America, analyzing the initiatives implemented in various countries across the region, the progress achieved, and the persistent challenges. Objective: to propose a model of public ethics for the prevention of corruption in Latin America. Method: A predominantly qualitative approach was employed, with documentary review serving as a key factor. Results: one of the key findings is that public ethics, despite being a fundamental pillar, is not sufficient on its own to eradicate corruption in the region. The lack of political will among government leaders, coupled with the persistence of impunity, remains a crucial barrier. Conclusions: therefore, the study concludes that political leadership committed to ethical principles is essential to ensure the effectiveness of anti-corruption policies.
