Psychological Violence and Emotional Dependence in Partners: Control and Submission in College Women

Abstract

La violencia psicológica en las relaciones de pareja, especialmente entre jóvenes y adolescentes, es un fenómeno psicosocial en aumento, difícil de detectar en vínculos emergentes. Las mujeres son particularmente vulnerables, y la dependencia emocional —vista como una dimensión psicológica— actúa como un factor que perpetúa el ciclo de abuso. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar la relación entre violencia psicológica de género y dependencia emocional en 367 mujeres universitarias, de entre 20 y 35 años, de la Universidad Técnica de Manabí, Ecuador, durante el año 2024. Se empleó un diseño metodológico mixto, con enfoque descriptivo y correlacional. Se aplicaron dos instrumentos con alta fiabilidad: el Inventario de Dependencia Emocional (IDE), desarrollado en Perú (α = 0,965), y la Escala de Percepción Femenina de Violencia Psicológica (VEC), diseñada en España (α = 0,952). Los resultados revelaron que el 24% de las participantes habían experimentado violencia psicológica, siendo “presión y negligencia sexual” la dimensión más frecuente. Además, el 49,59% presentó altos niveles de dependencia emocional. Se encontró una correlación débil pero significativa entre ambas variables (rho = 0,103; p = 0,048). Se concluye que la dependencia emocional aumenta la vulnerabilidad a la violencia, por lo que se recomienda implementar intervenciones preventivas en entornos universitarios
