Building a memory policy: Classification of historical assets of Nextlalpan

Abstract

Context: There is a lack of research proposals that reclaim historical sites and monuments from a local level in México and Latin America as politics of the memory, without being directly linked to a violent background or even to a dictatorial one. Goal: Classify gathered information of historical sites and monuments from the municipality of Nextlalpan, helping to the creation of politics of the memory in this territory from a place of community. Method: Qualitative research with an interdisciplinary approach supported on the methodology based on the record of historical monuments with its history and context, where various researching techniques were used (categorization, field work, document research, etc.) Outcomes: 208 historical sites and monuments were identified that can be categorized for creating politics of the memory that aids in the preservation and consultation of the existing memory in the municipality territory. Closure: The creation of a theoretical and methodologic proposal is required that starts from the classification of historical sites and monuments for the conformation of politics of the memory that preserves the historical and cultural heritage from Nextlalpan.
