Curricular flexibility and innovation in technical-vocational and university education: perceptions in the Dominican Republic

Abstract

This study examines the main curricular challenges in secondary technical-professional and university education in the Dominican Republic, focusing on flexibility, innovation, and the integration of technologies such as artificial intelligence. A descriptive quantitative design was used with surveys applied to 225 participants, including teachers, students, parents, and community employers. Findings indicate a generally positive perception of curriculum relevance but highlight the need for updates and alignment with labor market demands. The study underscores the importance of flexible, tech-integrated, and skills-based curricula to enhance educational quality and employability..
