Abstract

Dihydropyrimidinones and their derivatives are important class of heterocyclic compound. The synthesis of these bioactive heterocycles has attracted the interest of organic and medicinal chemist due to pharmacological activities associated with this heterocyclic compounds. The Biginelli reaction is the most common reaction for the synthesis of dihydropyrimidinones. Several synthetic methods that have been introduced during the past few decades to increase yields of reaction, rate of reaction, selectivity and environmental sustainability. The present review describes the systematic literature report of various synthetic procedures of dihyropyrimidinones derivatives using different strategies.
