La política arancelaria en la España del siglo XIX

Abstract

La política macroeconómica, entendida genéricamente, aplica simultáneamente me-didas fiscales, monetarias y comerciales. Sin embargo, a veces por motivos doctrinales y más veces por exigencias coyunturales, una u otra de tales medidas adquiere carácter preponderante. Históricamente, han gozado de tal protagonismo la política comercial, la política fiscal y la política monetaria (ahora con el relevante rol de los bancos centrales). Ello, no obstante, las iniciativas que lleva a cabo la administración estadounidense podrían situar nuevamente la política comercial en primer lugar. Ante tal eventualidad y como escueto referente histórico, en este trabajo se expone el controvertido papel que tuvo la política arancelaria en la España del XIX.
