Workload And Presence Of Psychosomatic Symptoms In Workers Of The Basic Special Education Center Of Cajamarca

Abstract

Objective: to identify the relationship between workload and psychosomatic symptoms in workers at a special education center in Cajamarca, March 2025. Method: a basic study with a quantitative approach was conducted, using a non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational design. Data were collected from a sample of 47 workers selected through probabilistic sampling. The “Workload Assessment Scale” by Rosell and the PHQ-15 were used for data collection. Data were analyzed using Excel and SPSS v27 software. The chi-square test was applied to identify the relationship between variables, and Spearman’s Rho coefficient was used to measure the degree and direction of association. Results: the results indicated a significant relationship between workload and the presence of psychosomatic symptoms (p = 0,045), with a weak positive association (Rho = 0,295). A total of 93,6 % reported a high workload, and 48,9 % presented moderate psychosomatic symptoms, with female teachers being the most affected group. Additionally, factors such as sex (p = 0,032) and job position (p < 0,001) showed a significant association with the presence of psychosomatic symptoms. Conclusion: the relationship between workload and psychosomatic symptoms is confirmed.
