Abstract

The nine Ontario Implementation Task Forces produced a robust consensus around a couple of important issues: establishing effective linkages between the formal health care system and the social supports and services in the communities in which people with mental illnesses live and work is extremely important; it is impossible for governments to provide effective management of community-based health and services from the centre; devolution of management responsibilities can provide the system with the flexibility necessary to respond to the particular needs of the community concerned; finally, we ought to do for mental illness in the workplace what we ve done with safety.
