Abstract

[ES] Introducción: El artículo examina la expansión, diversificación y profesionalización de las editoriales universitarias públicas de Córdoba, Santa Fe y Entre Ríos entre 1985 y 2020, entendidas como espacios de producción cultural que operan en tensión con las lógicas comerciales del mercado editorial argentino. Se plantea que estos sellos, situados fuera del centro tradicional, cumplen funciones académicas, institucionales y culturales que inciden en la configuración del espacio editorial nacional. Metodología: El estudio retoma resultados de una investigación más amplia que combinó métodos cualitativos y cuantitativos, incluyendo entrevistas en profundidad, encuestas a equipos editoriales, análisis de catálogos y revisión de documentos institucionales. Este enfoque permitió identificar las condiciones materiales, espaciales y simbólicas que posibilitan la edición literaria en provincias, así como las estrategias que desarrollan las editoriales para intervenir en circuitos culturales y comerciales. Resultados: Los análisis muestran que los sellos universitarios actúan como instituciones compensatorias frente a la concentración geográfica del mercado y las restricciones presupuestarias del sistema universitario. Se evidencia su rol en la creación de repertorios culturales, en la profesionalización del trabajo editorial y en la consolidación de zonas editoriales activas fuera de Buenos Aires. Conclusiones: Las editoriales universitarias provinciales despliegan modos específicos de inserción y posicionamiento que permiten comprender nuevas articulaciones entre universidad, literatura y mercado, aportando a una geografía editorial más diversa dentro del sistema argentino. EN]Introduction: This article examines the expansion, diversification, and professionalization of public university presses in the Argentine provinces of Córdoba, Santa Fe, and Entre Ríos between 1985 and 2020. These presses are understood as cultural production spaces that operate within the tensions between academic missions and the commercial logics of the national publishing market. Methodology: The study draws on findings from a broader mixed-method research project combining qualitative and quantitative tools, including in-depth interviews, surveys with editorial teams, catalog analysis, and review of institutional documents. This approach enabled the identification of the material, spatial, and symbolic conditions that shape literary publishing in provincial contexts, as well as the strategies deployed by university presses to participate in cultural and commercial circuits. Results: The analysis shows that university presses function as compensatory institutions within a geographically concentrated market, while also facing budgetary constraints inherent to the public university system. They play a key role in shaping cultural repertoires, professionalizing editorial practices, and consolidating active editorial zones beyond Buenos Aires. Conclusions: Provincial university presses develop specific modes of insertion and positioning that reveal new articulations between universities, literature, and the book market, contributing to a more diverse editorial geography within the Argentine publishing ecosystem.
