Abstract

[EN] Introduction: Open science has emerged as a key framework for expanding access, visibility, and public dissemination of publicly funded knowledge. In Latin America, this vision is implemented through LA Referencia, a federated network of national nodes that integrates institutional repositories and fosters new dynamics in scientific communication. Methodology: A qualitative-descriptive approach was applied, based on document review, comparative platform analysis, and exploration of digital resources from the Argentina and Colombia nodes. The methodology examined ecosystem organization, national policies, repository indicators, technological structures, and the complementary use of social networks as channels for information seeking and public engagement with science. Results: Findings highlight the strategic role of LA Referencia nodes as open science infrastructures that connect researchers, institutions, and citizens, enabling access, reuse, and dissemination of knowledge. Advances were identified in interoperability, national policies, and repository consolidation, alongside challenges involving metadata standardization, technological sustainability, and strengthened public communication of science. Conclusions: The analyzed nodes demonstrate a growing impact on regional open science articulation. Their consolidation requires coordinated policy strategies, enhanced technical capacities, and improved communication practices to foster broader societal participation in scientific knowledge.
