Abstract

Over the years, societies around the world have aspired to live together in peace and free from violence. However, peace is not understood solely as the absence of conflict; rather, it requires an intersectional approach that highlights inequalities based on gender, race, class, and ethnicity. The objective of this study was to determine the consequences of the presence or absence of an intersectional gender approach in the construction of the Peace Agreements of Colombia and Sierra Leone, as well as its impact on the development of inclusive peace. The research was conducted through a comparative policy analysis, using the method of difference, to establish whether the intersectional approach is necessary or sufficient condition for peacebuilding. The findings indicate that this approach alone is not sufficient to guarantee inclusive and sustainable peace. Although its incorporation helps make historically marginalized populations visible and opens spaces for political and social participation, its impact remains limited if not accompanied by clear implementation mechanisms, adequate resources, and strong political will.
