The deregulation of the salary benefit factors as a competitiveness strategy in Colombia

Abstract

In this paper, the wage level and the additional factors to wage paid in several Latin American countries and their relationship with the national competitiveness policies are analyzed. Starting from available data, the existing relationship between the development of wage deregulation public policies and the competitiveness of Colombia is analyzed. By contrasting among data about macroeconomics variables as minimum wage, poverty index, Gini index, unemployment index and inflation, in Latin American countries, with the same indicators in advanced economies such as Germany and Sweden, and the analysis of the wage indexation of these countries, from a criticism and reflexive perspective, it is concluded that it doesn´t exist a evident correlation between the decreasing of wages of the working class and the increasing of the national competitiveness.
