El Capital Social desde una Mirada Nicomaquea

Resumen Este texto presenta un acercamiento entre la Ética de Nicómaco, obra del pensador griego Aristóteles, y el Capital Social. El presente artículo se deriva de la investigación Evaluación del capital social en empresas del clúster de energía eléctrica en Antioquia, realizada en el ano del 2012 por el Grupo de Investigación en Dirección de Empresas (GIDE) de la Institución Universitaria Esumer. En la Antiguedad los filósofos se consideraban seres pensaste y de gran importancia para la sociedad y el estado, eran éstos los que podían opinar sobre lo que era mejor para la ciudad estado. Este artículo busca presentar a Aristóteles, uno de los filósofos y pensadores más importantes de todos los tiempos, con su obra Ética de Nicómaco (siglo IV a. C.) y su relación con el hoy denominado capital social. La obra del pensador griego está compuesta por diez Libros que describen cómo los hábitos de la virtud se convierten en los medios que puede utilizar el hombre para alcanzar la felicidad, frente al estado, la justicia y la amistad. Sin embargo, para este artículo solo se hará referencia a los libros octavo y noveno, donde se manifiesta cómo todos los seres se necesitan mutuamente, el autor presenta cómo al dar y recibir (relaciones de intercambio) se conservan los vínculos de la amistad, y cómo está, a su vez, puede engrosar de forma recíproca los lazos de la sociedad. De esta manera, se busca mostrar que el ser humano siempre ha estado en búsqueda constante de vínculos que permitan el crecimiento y fortalecimiento de una sociedad, de una cultura y de una nación. ****** Abstract This paper presents a contrast between the Nicomachean Ethics, the work of the Greek philosopher Aristotle, and the Social Capital. It derives from the research project Evaluation of the Social Capital in Enterprises at the Electricity Cluster in Antioquia conducted in 2012 by the GIDE research group at Institución Universitaria Esumer. In old Grece, philosophers were considered as thinking beings of great importance for society and the State; they were the ones who could give advice on what was best for the nation. This article presents Aristotle, one of the most important philosophers and thinkers of all time and his book: Nicomachean Ethics dating back from the IV century BC and its relation with the so-called Social Capital. The book comprises ten chapters that describe how the habits of virtue became the means that mankind can use to achieve happiness, despite of the State, justice and friendship. This article will yet discuss only the eighth and ninth chapters, which clearly manifests how all beings need each other; the authorexplains how by giving and receiving (exchange relations) friendship links can be preserved and that, in turn, may reciprocally strengthen bonds within society. In this way, the book looks for showing how mankind has always been in the quest for links leading to developping and enhancing societies, cultures and nations.
