Abstract

****** Abstract Talking about Marketing and its evolution means entering a discipline that, during the last years, has showed considerable development; it has also faced challenges to adapt to the new complex economic trends as result of the incorporation and development of technology in human and managerial activities. Although, it is true that the concept of marketing has been known and used since Socrates’s age when the proliferation of urban life began and the markets originated at opened squares in Grace, it is in the 20th century when this one had its major development, in both its conceptualization and practice. This paper presents an approximation to the precedents that have marked the evolutionary process of marketing, a process that has been characterized, in the different analyzed periods, fundamentally by the interest in administrative –related factors. The tour is taken by observing marketing’s evolution through time and how, from the hard sciences, it has proposed models to describe, analyze, infer, demythologize and predict, among other functions, the economic phenomena and especially those of Marketing and the framework application of the Marketing Mix.
