Determinantes de las muertes por homicidios en colombia en el periodo de 1970-2008

Abstract

Las muertes por asesinatos son la principal causa de muertes en Colombia, ocupando el primer lugar como país con más asesinatos en relación con el número de habitantes. Este flagelo origina una serie de características sociales, tales como el desempleo y el crecimiento de la población; sociopolíticas, como la presencia de grupos armados ilegales; y económicas como la variación del PIB; dichas variables inciden en el comportamiento de éste fenómeno de violencia homicida. Así las cosas, en este documento se presentan los principales determinantes de las muertes por homicidio en Colombia (1970-2008), citando como objetivo principal el establecimiento y evaluación de los más relevantes factores económicos, políticos y sociales que influyen en la permanencia y el crecimiento de este flagelo.
