El meridiano 82: Factor de crisis para la seguridad nacional

Abstract

El trabajo se concentra en la revisión histórica del meridiano 82º de Greenwich concebido como límite marítimo por Colombia e indicado en el Acta de Canje del Tratado sobre Cuestiones Territoriales entre Colombia y Nicaragua de 1928. Se revisa los aportes teóricos de la geopolítica marítima aplicada al caso de la región del Gran Caribe y en particular frente a Nicaragua y Colombia para explicar los hechos y tendencias que marcaron la toma de decisiones del Estado Colombiano durante el periodo 1900 a 2012. Se hace especial énfasis en las aportaciones del geopolítico norteamericano y estratega naval Alfred Tayer Mahan para explicar los intereses y motivaciones para expandir su influencia, control y dominio sobre una de las regiones más estratégicas del continente americano con las consecuentes afectaciones a la seguridad nacional que esta influencia geopolítica generó en los tomadores de decisiones durante el periodo de estudio propuesto
