La función académica extensionista desde la óptica de la Responsabilidad Social Universitaria

Abstract

Este artículo expone un análisis acerca del papel de la función académica representada por la extensión en la Responsabilidad Social Universitaria (RSU) como elemento relevante del compromiso de las universidades vanguardistas con su entorno. La RSU está intrínsecamente arraigada a la obligación que tienen estas casas de estudio en dar respuestas certeras a las demandas de la sociedad, siendo consciente de los impactos que puedan producir. En principio se hace una disección conceptual sobre la extensión universitaria (EU) y sus dimensiones desde el punto de vista de algunos expertos en la materia y desde la concepción de un grupo selecto de universidades venezolanas, para posteriormente distinguirla desde la óptica de la RSU como uno de sus componentes necesarios para cumplir con parte de la misión de las universidades, orientada al compromiso en la búsqueda del bienestar y el desarrollo sustentable de la sociedad. Por último, se infieren algunas consideraciones finales a manera de reflexión relacionadas con el rol que debe asumir la EU como un baluarte de la academia que contribuye al fortalecimiento de la RSU.
